Gov’t focused on auto sector rebound

The automotive industry – besides logistics, pharmaceuticals and IT – is a key segment of the economy that could pave the way for a strong comeback for Hungary once the global economic downturn is over, National Development and Economy Minister István Varga said.

Accordingly, the government has at the start of June approved a sectoral development strategy for 2009 to 2011, Varga said, underlining that the Hungarian auto industry is an outstanding contributor to national GDP even in global comparison.

The minister added that a similar strategy for the logistics industry has also been completed, while the pharma development scheme is currently being negotiated with actors of the sector. (Gazdasági Rádió)
