Gov‘t extends moratorium on foreclosures to July 1

The government has extended a moratorium on foreclosures until July 1, 2011, the date on which a moratorium on evictions is set to expire, government spokesperson Anna Nagy told MTI on Monday.

The decision to extend the moratorium was made to keep the legal position of affected retail borrowers unchanged until the government decides on an assistance package for them, Nagy said.

The moratorium was to have expired on April 15.

Parliament voted on March 16 to extend the moratorium on evictions to July 1.
