Govt decides on funding reallocation to buy land around national park

Hungary government has decided to reallocate HUF 450m from the National Land Management Fund to the Orsegi National Park for the purchase of 500-1,000 hectares of protected land, state secretary for environmental affairs Zoltan Illes told journalists on Friday.

Regulations will require the purchase of the land by the end of 2015, Mr Illes said.

Rural development state secretary Zsolt Nemeth said about 4,600 hectares of protected land around the park is thought to be farmed illegally by foreigners.
