Germany to open its doors to more immigrants

The German government aims to create a more liberal regime for immigrants, as the country is now facing net emigration, Frankfurter Allgemeine reports.

The government is considering a point system, which allows a certain quota of qualified immigrants to enter the country each year, independent of whether there is a concrete need for an immigrant's specific skills, as is the case today. The government is alarmed about the rising number of Germans who are leaving the country each year. There is particular concern that economic motives and career prospects play an increasingly important role for emigration. (
