The forint was trading at 295.61 to the euro late Wednesday on the interbank forex market, down from 295.11 late Tuesday. At 295.12 to the euro early Wednesday, the forint moved between 294.88 and 296.45 during the day. Slipping out of its range of 290-295 for only the second time within more than two months Tuesday, the forint eased a bit further Wednesday in euro terms as market yields of government paper were mixed with shorter-terms mostly falling and longer-terms mostly rising. Analysts reckon that firming can hardly be expected in these final days in the long-drawn suspense around who will be MNB's next governor. However, helped by a stronger euro, the forint profited from the firming of international market sentiment in terms of other major currencies. The forint traded at 225.68 to the dollar, up from 225.85 late Tuesday. For the day, the forint moved between 225.19 and 226.83 to the dollar. The forint was quoted at 241.95 to the Swiss franc, up from 242.40 late Tuesday. Its daily range was 241.79 to 243.47 to the franc on Wednesday.
