A national strategy on foreign trade and investment places emphasis on expanding the export orientation of Hungarian SMEs, increasing the role of neighboring countries and supporting capital investments, state secretary in charge of strategy Balázs Botos told MTI.
The strategy aims to attach certain conditions to state support for foreign investments in Hungary, Botos said. Investments should use Hungarian suppliers, positively affect the trade balance, create workplaces and bring activities that create high added value to the country, he explained.
The strategy for 2011-2015 is expected to come before the government in March, after the Foreign Trade and Investment Roundtable submits it to the National Economy Ministry at the end of February, Botos said.
The roundtable held its third meeting on Tuesday.
