Twelve-month farm gate prices in Hungary fell 19.9% in April, after 26.8% decline in March and a 27.4% drop in February, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.
Crop prices dropped 27.1% and livestock and animal product prices decreased 2.0%.
In January-April farm gate prices dropped 27.8% from the same period a year earlier as crop prices fell 37.4% and livestock prices decreased 4.1%.
In April farm gate prices for cereals fell 40.7% as part of a trend reversal of a big price increase started in 2007, KSH noted. The price of oil seeds remained practically unchanged decreasing a 0.5%. In April 2008, oil seed prices jumped 54.4% yr/yr.
Prices for potatoes rose 10.8%, while fresh vegetable prices climbed just 0.8%.
Farm gate prices for livestock rose 5.0%, as hog prices rose 18.0%, cattle prices climbed 13.6% and poultry prices slid 8.8%. Egg prices were up 10.6% and milk prices were down 26.1% yr/yr in April.

Cereal prices fell 48.7% and oil seed prices dropped 20.7%. Potato prices were down 5.7% and fruit prices declined 6.1%.
Livestock prices rose 3.7% as hog prices climbed 16.9% and cattle prices increased 11.2%, but poultry prices dropped 9.1%. Milk prices fell 27.2% and egg prices were up 5.9%. (MTI – Econews)
