European Commission approves transport aid

The European Commission on Tuesday said it approved a HUF 16.9 billion Hungarian aid scheme to extend and upgrade existing transport infrastructure and build up more connections between networks between 2009 and 2013.

The aid covers infrastructure connections between the public rail and road networks as well as commercial airport and freight inland waterway ports. No aid may be provided for infrastructures implemented in the Central Hungary region which has better transport infrastructure than elsewhere in the country. (MTI-ECONEWS)
