Energy tax derogations expire

More than one hundred energy tax derogations are to expire by the end of 2006. Energy Tax Directive (2003/96/EC) provided options for the Member States to differ from the general rules, but many of these should not be renewed commented László Kovács, Commissioner responsible for Taxation and Customs Union after the release of a review. Annexe I and II of the directive in question detail all the derogation which by type range from the reduced rates of taxation or exemptions from taxation. The most general derogation practice is applied on fuel used for private air pleasure navigation, waste oil reused fuel, and certain areas of consumption. (by BBJ’s Brussels correspondents)
