Employers have proposed a 2009 general wage increase of 2-4%, compared to their previously recommended increase of 0-3%, while unions continue to demand a 3-6% rise, employer and union representatives said at a Friday meeting of the National Interest Coordination Council (OET).
Unions have reduced their monthly minimum-wage proposal to HUF 74,500 from HUF 75,000, while employers raised their monthly minimum-wage proposal to HUF 70,500 from HUF 70,000.
Unions proposed that the minimum monthly wage for skilled workers be raised to HUF 91,000 from the current HUF 86,300, though employers say that this proposal is unacceptable.
Employers and unions agreed at a Friday meeting of the OET to a general wage increase of 3-5% in 2009 and to establish Hungary’s monthly minimum wage at HUF 71,500 next year news agency MTI reported early evening on Friday. (MTI-Eco)
