The municipal government of Eger has motioned joint operation of the city’s Markhot Ferenc hospital to the Heves county once a valid contract with the hospital’s current operator, private healthcare services provider HospInvest is terminated.
The proposal stipulates that the city and the county would establish a joint nonprofit firm with equal stakes.
The decision comes as response to HospInvest’s bank CIB collecting over HUF 1 billion in due arrears from the company’s account, which it received from the state to cover operating expenses and consequently made operation of the company virtually impossible.
The proposal will surely not mean the end of the dispute as already rifts are emerging between the two sides over privileges to appoint the hospital’s directors. HospInvest’s contract will almost certainly be canceled at Friday’s session of the Eger government. (Gazdasági Rádió)
