EcoMin official says serious structural reform needed for euro convergence

Significant structural reforms must be implemented in Hungary in order to prepare the country for the challenges of the 21st century and to fulfill the criteria necessary to introduce the euro, National Economy Ministry state secretary responsible for financial policy Roland Natran said on Wednesday.

Natran remarked that the objective of these reforms would be to increase prosperity through economic growth, which would naturally entail satisfaction of the criteria for adoption of the single European currency.

Natran said the government has not determined a concrete target date for adoption of the euro.
