Damage-compensation claims reach nearly HUF 7bn

Insurance claims for damage incurred during a series of storms that thundered through Hungary in the middle of May reached HUF 6.7 billion (€24.01 million) by Tuesday, the business daily Világgazdaság reported on Wednesday, citing data from the Association of Hungarian Insurance Companies (Mabisz).

The newspaper said that Generali has received claims for HUF 2.12 billion in damage stemming from the tempests that smote the country between May 15-18, while Aegon has received HUF 1.37 billion in claims and Allianz has received HUF 1.28 billion in claims.

Világgazdaság noted that Hungarian insurance companies usually pay a total of HUF 28 billion-HUF 30 billion in damage compensation per year. (MTI-ECONEWS)
