Consumer confidence improves in Q1

GfK Hungaria's consumer confidence index measured 125.3 points in Q1 2012, almost 8 points higher than in Q4 2011, GfK told MTI on Thursday.

The sub-index that gauges consumer expectations rose almost 30 points to 148.8 during the period.

The sub-index that measures propensity to make purchases reached 99.2 points, down 16 points.

The percentage of households that expect the unemployment rate to increase edged down to 51% from 54%.

About 90% of households expect prices to increase, putting the rise at 9% over the next twelve months.
