The building industry remains in the doldrums, with Friday’s latest statistics showing yet another 3.1% contraction in December year-on-year. The Central Statistics Office (KSH) said in annual terms, the building sector shrank by 5.9% last year. The association of construction firms ÉVOSz expects the first half of 2013 to bring another 2% to 3% contraction with stagnation in the second half. The group’s deputy chairman László Koji told business daily Napi Gazdaság that a tumult of newly revised sectoral legislations makes the operation of building firms even more confusing and difficult than before.
