Hungarian taxpayers who opted to give part of their personal income tax to charity this year contributed HUF 16.6 billion to worthy causes, deputy director of tax office APEH Hajnalka Mogyorósi said at a press conference on Tuesday. The amount is up from HUF 16.2 billion last year.
About 1,800,000 Hungarians - of a total 3,600,000 taxpayers - opted to give 2% of their personal income tax to charity, but some 120,000 taxpayers submitted an incorrect tax number for the charity they wished to support. The money went to 29,570 civil organizations, 169 churches and two budget-funded organizations. (MTI-ECONEWS)
