OTP Bank and oil and gas company MOL lifted the Budapest Stock Exchange's main BUX index to a 24,089.61 finish on Thursday, up 0.42% from the previous close.
OTP Bank gained 0.98% to HUF 6,260 on turnover of HUF 11.2 billion or about 78% of the HUF 14.3 billion session total. MOL climbed 0.95% to HUF 24,530 on turnover of HUF 1.7billion.
Magyar Telekom lost 0.65% to HUF 610 on turnover of HUF 378 million, and drugmaker Richter slipped 0.65% to HUF 38,000 on turnover of HUF 594 million.
The bourse's mid-cap BUMIX index advanced 0.17% to 1,948.38.
Elsewhere in the region, Warsaw's WIG 20 dipped 0.49% but the Prague PX was up 1.04%.
Western Europe's biggest indices were mixed late Thursday. London's FTSE 100 was down 0.20%, but Frankfurt's DAX gained 0.51 and the CAC 40 in Paris was up 0.43%.
