Budget VAT takings slump

Hungary's central budget reaped HUF 193 billion in value-added taxes in May, down some 16% from last year after tax rebate payments rose by HUF 67.8 billion over 2009, the National Economy Ministry said.

State income from excise taxes fell some 10% to HUF 64 billion in May despite a 4.4% rise in fuel excise tax receipts.

The central budget's receipts from personal income taxes fell 15% or HUF 27.5 billion to HUF 154 billion, after the government collected HUF 172.7 billion gross, of which it paid back 18.7 billion. (privatbankar.hu)
