Ferihegy International Airport had 595,160 passengers in March, 2.4% more than in the same month a year earlier, the airport's operator Budapest Airport Rt announced on Tuesday.
Budapest Airport noted that the smaller-than-usual increase resulted because Easter, a big travel period, was in March in 2005 but in April this year. In the twelve months to March, the airport had 8.188 million passengers, 19.7% more than in the preceding twelve-month period.
The number of low-fare airline passengers increased 4.3% to 183,872 in March. There were 2.284 million low-fare airline passengers at the airport in the twelve months to March.
The number of take-offs and landings in March rose 0.6% to 10,107 compared to the same month a year earlier. There were 126,830 take-offs and landings at Ferihegy in the twelve months to March, 8.1% more than in the preceding twelve-month period.
More than 8,127 tons of cargo passed through the airport in March, 36% more than in the same month a year earlier.
