Banks and insurance companies to pay 85% of financial-sector tax

Banks and insurance companies will pay HUF 170 billion of the Fidesz-led government's proposed HUF 200 billion extraordinary financial-sector tax this year, while other financial enterprises will pay HUF 12 billion and financial intermediaries, savings cooperatives, fund managers, investment companies, the Budapest Stock Exchange and central depository and clearing house Keler will pay the remaining HUF 18 billion, MTI has learned from market sources.

The three-year extraordinary financial-sector tax is part of the government's 29-point economic action-plan that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán presented to parliament on June 8. (MTI – Econews)
