Hungary's Rural Development Ministry on Monday said the Farm and Rural Development Office fined French-owned supermarket chain Auchan HUF 20.5 million for selling UHT milk imported from the Czech Republic under cost.
Auchan has already paid the fine, the ministry said.
Some imported UHT milk has been sold for HUF 115-145 per liter recently, while domestic UHT milk is not sold for any less than HUF 170-180 per liter, the ministry said.
The Dairy Products Council reported Auchan Magyarország as well as the local unit of UK supermarket chain Tesco for selling under cost in September.
The review of Tesco is expected to end at the beginning of December, the ministry said. (MTI-Econews)
