Amendment would return collection of local business tax to municipalities

Local councils, rather than tax office APEH, would again start collecting local business tax from the second half of the year under a proposed amendment by MPs of Fidesz, who enjoy a two-thirds majority in Parliament.

An amendment approved under Hungary's previous government took the task of collecting the tax from local councils and gave it to APEH. The proposed amendment would make it an obligation for APEH to collect unpaid local taxes on behalf of a local council if they so wish. (MTI-Econews)
