Preparations start to raise load capacity of main road in SE Hungary

Preparations costing HUF 2 billion have started for the renovation and reinforcement of main road No. 47 between Békéscsaba and Szeged, in the southeast of Hungary.

Support from the European Regional Development Fund is covering 85% of the cost of the preparations.

The axle load capacity on the 62 km stretch is expected to be raised to 11.5 tons by the end of 2013.

National Infrastructure Development Company communications director Daniel Loppert called the stretch “one of the most important routes in the Great Plain region”.
