The city of Budapest's twelve hospitals could operate within a holding company from October, 2011, deputy mayor Imre Pesti said at a conference organized by healthcare journal IME in Budapest.
The hospitals will operate as companies, and business administration and procurement will be centralized in the holding company, Pesti said. The hospitals will also share the same IT system, he added.
The capital's hospitals have debts of more than HUF 8 billion, including HUF 3 billion which is overdue, Pesti said. At the same time, tens of billions of forints are necessary to renovate the hospitals, he added. (MTI Econews)
