The Budapest Fire Department has unilaterally terminated a HUF 149.2 million contract with Hungarian IT company Synergon's 100%-owned unit Synergon System Integrator to provide the department with a new resource-management, information and alert system, Synergon announced.
Synergon said that its unit has initiated talks with the Budapest Fire Department aimed at convincing the department to carry through with the contract, which has been nearly 100% completed. Synergon System Integrator won the contract via tender in July 2009.
Budapest Fire Department Spokesman Mark Mate Kisdi told MTI that the department had terminated the contract because Synergon System Integrator had failed to satisfy the stipulations of the agreement, noting that the mission control system, which has already been delivered and is awaiting final testing, suffers from numerous flaws. The Fire Department will demand that the Synergon unit repay money already received for the system, Kisdi said.
