BKV to get HUF 19 bln in March

Budapest public transport company BKV will get HUF 19 billion from the state in return for two municipality-owned properties, mayor István Tarlós said on television channel HírTV.

This money will be enough to ensure the annual financing of BKV but to clean up the situation at the company, the state has to take an active part in reducing its debt, he added.

The plots behind Operettszínház in Budapest downtown and behind Műcsarnok at Városliget are involved in the swap but there have also been negotiations about the building of Trafó, a popular venue of cultural projects in the 9th District.

The value of the two properties in the basket at the moment certainly does not reach HUF 19 billion, Tarlós underlined.
