Concentration increases on Hungary PR market

Concentration increased on Hungary's PR market as a result of the economic crisis, according to data compiled by company information provider Opten.

The number of companies that listed PR services as their main activity fell by 5% in December 2010 from a year earlier, but the number of people working in PR rose about 7%, Opten said.

Opten noted that there were more PR companies in Hungary in December (9,721) than there were people working in PR (5,908). The discrepancy is likely caused by the number of companies that list PR as their main activity but are actually marketing companies or event organizers, Opten said, citing Péter Széles, who heads the Hungarian Public Relations Association.
