Chris Collins will join the airline as Chief Operating Officer based in Budapest, starting from November 2009, the low cost-low fare airline announced on Monday.
Chris comes from the United States where he has developed his airline operations career. After working for People Express, Continental Airlines and its subsidiaries in various managerial roles for more than 15 years he entered the new generation low cost airline sector with Jet Blue in a senior operations manager position as one of the airlines first employees in 1998. Following his 7 year Jet Blue career Chris has been the chief operating officer of Frontier Airlines over the past 4 years.
“Chris’s arrival to Wizz Air is another important milestone in elevating the airline’s leadership and management talents to deliver the growth ahead of us based on cost leadership. We plan to build the Wizz fleet from the current 26 to 132 aircraft during the course of the next 8 years, underpinned by a series of purchase orders placed earlier for Airbus A320 planes. Chris will bring the growth experience and new ideas into Wizz Air’s day-to-day operations and strategic development as well as intellectual capital to the company,” – said József Váradi, chief executive officer of Wizz Air.
