Hungary's wild game industry is expected to contract 10%-15% from the usual annual HUF 20 billion because of the global crisis, Ottó Feiszt, chairman of the Hungarian national hunters’ chamber said at a meeting of the body in Nagykanizsa.
While the number of Spanish hunters coming to Hungary dropped in 2008, the number of Italian hunters fell this year, as did the number coming from Austria and Germany, Feiszt said. Numbers from Russia and Slovakia are only down slightly, he added.
About 60% of wild game industry revenue in Hungary comes from foreign visitors.
Demand for game meat is falling, pushing down further prices which have fallen for years, he said. (MTI – Econews)
