VW unit Skoda targeting unchanged 2009 sales

Volkswagen's Czech unit Skoda Auto will target this year's expected sales level of 690,000 cars in 2009, up from 630,000 in 2007, a Skoda board member said.

“It is very difficult to make predictions, but our target is to keep the level from 2008,” Holger Kintscher told reporters at a conference.

Skoda has cut production slightly in the past month due to falling demand amid the global financial crisis and Kintscher said Skoda is still considering whether to cut shifts next year, but is not planning any layoffs at the moment. (Reuters)
