Viasat Hungária Rt, the Hungarian unit of Sweden's Modern Times Group operating commercial television channel Viasat3, closed the first half of 2006 with operating profits of 1 million Swedish crowns (Ft 29 million), making the period its first profitable first half since starting up in 2000, spokesman Balázs Varró said on Thursday.
Varró attributed the profits to stable viewership, rising prices and increasing advertiser trust. In H1 2005, Viasat had operating losses of 12 million Swedish crowns (Ft 350 million). Viasat's revenue increased 42% to 55 million Sedish crowns (Ft 1.53 billion) in H1 2006 compared to H1 2005.
The channel first had profits in Q4 2005.
