A consortium of Hungary's Vegyépszer and Austria's Porr and Bilfinger will sign the contract to build two stations along Budapest's planned fourth underground line within days, and work on the stations is expected to start by year-end, Vegyépszer CEO Gyula Timár said on Tuesday, a day after the consortium was named the winner of the tender.
The consortium won the bid with an offer of Ft 13.78 billion to build the station at Keleti Railway Station and an offer of Ft 6.02 billion to build the station at Népszínház utca. The entire fourth line, to run from Etele tér in the south of Buda to Bosnyák tér in the east of Pest, will cost Ft 376 billion. It is scheduled to be completed in 2010. The first stretch, between Etele tér and Keleti Railway Station, will cost Ft 295 billion and be completed by 2009. (Mti-Eco)
