Hungarian-owned condiment maker Univer Product inaugurated a HUF 3 billion plant in Kecskemét.
The new 9,000-square-metre plant will supply Univer's traditional products on the Hungarian an Romania markets, CEO Károly Molitórisz said. It will allow the company to make mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup products free of preservatives, he added.
Sales of mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup generate 35% of Univer's revenue. The company controls 44% of Hungary's mayonnaise market and 37% of the mustard market.
Univer paid for HUF 1.9 billion of the plant with a loan and covered the rest of the cost with its own resources.
Univer had revenue of HUF 13.2 billion in 2008. (MTI – Econews)
