The VSzSz steelworkers’ union announced it is freeing up HUF 1 million from its strike fund, which it will transfer as a form of emergency aid to the workers of the shut-down Diósgyőr steel mill in Hungary.
Head of the association Béla Balogh said the funding will be made available to members of VSzSz, the degree of individual funding will be decided by the local branch. The Diósgyőr branch said it highly appreciates the offer likewise to a similar aid of HUF 500,000 made available by the Dunaferr interest group, union head József Ágotai said.
Aid right now is of particular importance since it has become a certainty that the operator of the plant DAM 2004 Kft will be liquidated and it will be weeks until the commissioner overseeing the procedure will be able to pay out salaries, Ágotai said. (Napi Gazdaság)
