Theme park of Budapest might not re-open in spring

Vidám Park, Budapest's 60-year-old theme park might not re-open for the public this spring as it will be unable to pay for its workers next month, Blikk reported.

Vidám Park can not find a solution to balance out its HUF 70 million operational deficit and is trying to sell the ferris wheel and another game called Top Spin, then would re-lease it from the new owner. The cultural committe of the Budapest Council, however, did not support the modification of the company's business plan, so the plan for saving the park failed.

If the capital's council continues to deny the sales and re-lease of the games, only a municipal credit can save the park. But if the season turned out to be good this year, the park's financial situation can be stabilized. (BBJ Online)
