TDK to shut down plant in Hungary

Japanese electronics and data storage company TDK is shutting down its plant in the northern Hungarian city of Rétság and laying off 145 people, mayor Zoltán Mezőfi told MTI on Wednesday.

TDK Elektronika Magyarország said it would close the plant at the end of May of the beginning of June because of the economic crisis, the mayor said.

Asked to comment on the matter by MTI, the plant's HR director Ildikó Bognár said she could not say anything yet as she had not been authorized to do so. (MTI-ECONEWS)
