Hungary's state lottery company Szerencsejáték Zrt had after-tax profit of Ft 865 million in the first quarter of 2006, 74.4% more than in the same period a year earlier, CEO Gábor Székely said on Wednesday.
First-quarter revenue was Ft 31.02 billion, 10% more than targeted in the business plan. Székely attributed the good results to more sales of the company's pick-five game, which saw several jackpot rollovers at the beginning of the year.
In 2005, Szerencsejáték had revenue of Ft 131.8 billion, Ft 21 billion more than in 2004. It paid out gross winnings of Ft 68 billion during the year and paid Ft 54 billion into the central budget, excluding dividend.
