State lottery official suggests online poker might be legalized as state monopoly

Online poker could be legalized in Hungary as a state monopoly at the start, while private companies would be allowed to enter the market later, Gábor Németh, sales director of state-owned lottery company Szerencsejáték told Magyar Nemzet.

The problem is not internet gaming, but the lack of official oversight, Németh said.

Hungary's online gambling market is worth an annual HUF 10 billion-100 billion, but is definitely closer to HUF 100 billion, Németh said earlier. (MTI – Econews)
