Spar to open up to 30 Hungarian stores

Spar Magyarország Kft, the Hungarian unit of German wholesaler and grocery retailer Spar Handels AG, will open between 25 and 30 new Hungarian outlets in 2006, business daily Világgazdaság reported.

Spar Magyarország plans to open five hypermarkets and as many as 25 supermarkets in the country, Világgazdaság said, citing Spar Magyarország Managing Director Peter Feiner. The company will also renovate 30 of its outlets this year and will rename three of its existing shops in Budapest to City Spar, a new chain selling fresh products. Spar Magyarorszag operated 125 Spar and 22 Kaiser's supermarkets as well as 21 Interspar hypermarkets at the end of last year.
