Skype has not renewed a contract with a call centre in Budapest operated by Sweden's Transcom, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported.
Transcom Hungary will lay off about 200 people, including part-time staff, at the call center, cutting headcount by one-third, the paper said.
Call center director Zsombor Bereczki confirmed that one of the company’s clients had not renewed a three-year contract that expires at the end of the year, but he declined to reveal the name of the client.
Napi asked Skype communications staff several times to comment on the matter, but they did not respond.
Transcom Hungary is expected to close 2010 with revenue of €12 million, up from €10 million in 2009. (MTI – Econews)
