SkyEurope plans to boost passenger capacity

Low-fare airline SkyEurope plans to increase its passenger capacity 50% in 2006, business daily Napi Gazdaság said citing Christian Mandl, one of the airline's founders.

The airline started taking delivery of 32 new Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircraft yesterday, Mandl said. Mandl said SkyEurope's profits increased 3% and its costs decreased 10% in Q1 2006, compared to the same period a year earlier, without disclosing further details. Asked whether the airline is looking into offering flights from other airports in Hungary, Mandl said SkyEurope would fly only from Ferihegy airport for the time being. He added that steps the airport's new management had taken to reduce landing fees were sufficient.
