September industrial output up 8.9% yr/yr

Hungary's industrial output rose by a seasonally- and working day-adjusted 2.5% in September from August and was up 8.9% year-on-year according to working-day adjusted and unadjusted figures, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported. In the first nine months of 2005, industrial output was up 6.9% from the same period last year. According to seasonally- and working day-adjusted figures industrial export sales volume rose 3% from August to September and rose a working-day adjusted 14.4% year-on-year. Domestic sales volume rose only by a slight 0.8% in a month and was up 5.8% in the twelve months to September, the adjusted figures showed. On an unadjusted basis, industrial exports rose 14.4% year-on-year in September and nine-month exports volume was up 11%. Domestic sales were up an unadjusted 5.7% in September and were up 4% year-on-year in the first nine months. Industrial output per head in the first nine months was up 10.3% from a year earlier among businesses employing at least five people, KSH said, citing a 3% fall of employed in the period. Hungary's industrial output rose 7.4% in 2004. Industrial export sales volume rose 14.7% and domestic sales fell 0.9% in volume terms last year.
