Germany-based collector brush maker and railway and car industry supplier group Schunk GmbH & Co will further expand the company’s production in Hungary by building a new, 720 square meter service unit in Csesztreg, Zala County, on the site of the company’s Hungarian subsidiary Hoffman Carbon Kft.
The Hungarian factory has been recently extended by 5,500 square meters. The current investment program includes the construction of a logistics center and an increase of the 500 staff as well. Schunk produces spare parts for nearly 50% of the electronic locomotives all around the world, Hoffman managing director János Derdák has recently told county paper Zalai Hírlap. At present, there are 240 types of spare parts being made in Csesztreg, which are to be built into locomotives, trams, metro carriages and other vehicles. Almost all the products are made by hand due to the special market demands, he said, adding that a substantial part of the cars made in Europe use carbon brushes made in Csesztreg. (Napi Gazdaság)
