SAP makes Hungarian unit regional base for SME products

Germany's SAP AG, a leading maker of software that integrates businesses' back office functions, has picked its Hungarian unit to base its SME operations for Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, SAP Hungary Kft announced on Friday.

The company made the decision because businesses in the four countries are facing similar tasks and are on the same development path. As the SME sector is of primary importance in SAP's global strategy, the decision shows an appreciation of the achievements of SAP's Hungarian unit, the statement said. Róbert Kelemen, formerly SAP Hungary's SME sales manager, is overseeing the region.
SAP Hungary had sales revenue of Ft 9.38 billion in 2005, 27.3% more than a year earlier. Operating profit increased 31.7% to Ft 585.9 million. Revenue from software sales increased 8.6% to Ft 1.75 billion, and revenue from services rose 37.9% to Ft 3.38 billion.
