French drugmaker Sanofi will lay off staff at its research and development base in Hungary as part of a consolidation of its R&D centers around the world, Hungarian news website Index.hu said on Thursday.
Iván Rózsa, communications director for Sanofi’s Hungarian unit, told Index about half of the 300 people employed in R&D in Hungary would not be affected by the restructuring, but added that it was still too early to give a precise figure for layoffs.
Almost 2,500 people work for Sanofi in Hungary.
