SABMiller underlying Q1 beer volumes flat

Brewing giant SABMiller reported flat first-quarter underlying beer volumes and although the global slowdown dampened consumer demand its performance was in line with its own expectations.

Forecasts had ranged between growth of 3.9% to a dip of 0.2% for the quarterly April-June underlying beer volume figure giving a consensus of 1.4% growth in a poll of six analysts by Reuters.

The brewer was giving a routine first-quarter trading update ahead of its annual shareholders meeting. (Reuters)
