A delegation from the Russian Nanotechnology Corporation will arrive in the US later on Monday to take part in the Nanotech 2009 conference, the corporation has said.
The delegation, led by Rosnano Director Anatoly Chubais, will hold talks with the world’s largest high-tech companies, Intel, Hewlett-Packard and others.
It will also meet with members of the American Business Association of Russian Professionals (AmBAR), a non-profit organization founded to foster entrepreneurship among Russian expatriates.
The Nanotech 2009 Conference and Expo runs from May 3 through May 7 in Houston. Its declared mission is to unite “innovators to bring nanotechnology from laboratory to marketplace.”
Nanotech 2009 brings together over 5,000 technology and business leaders and experts from academia, government, startups and Fortune 1,000 companies.
Anatoly Chubais, former head of the now defunct Russian electricity monopoly, UES, was appointed head of Russia’s State Nanotechnology Corporation last September.
Chubais said earlier that by 2015 sales of Russian nanotechnology products should be equal to the turnover of the UES affiliated energy companies – RUB 1 trillion a year.
The corporation’s proclaimed mission and main goal is to secure leading positions on the world nanotechnology market. Russia previously said it planned to invest some $10 billion in nanotechnology development programs in the medium term. (rian.ru)
