Roche Hungary has started restocking at a temporary warehouse in Budaörs, on the outskirts of Budapest, after a fire late Thursday damaged all of the medicines stored at its warehouse in nearby Törökbálint, the Swiss-owned drug company told MTI on Monday.
Roche Hungary started taking delivery of medicines from the parent company's headquarters in Basel on Monday and some items could go to wholesalers as soon as this week, following quality control, the unit said. Stocks are expected to be replenished after a few weeks, it added.
Fire broke out at the warehouse around 6pm on Thursday. Nobody was in the warehouse at the time.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze which started in a refrigeration unit. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
After the fire, Roche Hungary said it will do everything in its power to see patients' supply of drugs is not interrupted and to minimise damages, the company said.
Roche Hungary only sells prescription drugs, of which most are used in hospitals.
