Richter signs exclusive distribution contract for cancer pain drug in CIS, Bulgaria and Romania

Hungarian drug company Richter announced on Tuesday it had signed an agreement with Orexo to be the exclusive distributor of the Swedish pharma company's drug Rapinyl, used to treat pain in cancer patients, in the CIS, Bulgaria and Romania.

The agreement is Orexo's first for the distribution of Rapinyl. Marketing rights for the drug have been out-licensed in the EU, as well as the US and Japan. Richter already distributes Rapinyl in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Hungary, under an agreement singed in July with ProStrakan, a Scottish company which was licenced with the European rights for the drug in December 2005.
