Gyulai Húskombinát, one of Hungary's oldest and most famous sausage makers, could break even for the first time in ten years this year thanks to restructuring, CEO of owner HAGE-Nagisz János Ruck told MTI on Wednesday. All production has been concentrated at a single facility and some HUF 400 million has been spent on technological developments, Ruck said. The technology investments will be recouped as soon as this year, he added.
Gyulai Húskombinát has annual revenue of almost HUF 8.5 billion. It produces about 3,500 tons of sausage, 3,000-3,200 tons of liver pate and 4,500-5,000 tons of sandwich meet a year. It controls 30% of the domestic market for liver pate and 10% of the market for sausage. About 15% of its output is exported, mainly to Russia and the UK. The company employs 400 people. (MTI-Econews)
